Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that the cup-tie rule should be scrapped as he prepares to continue his Europa League campaign without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that the cup-tie rule should be abolished.

The Gunners will be unable to call upon January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the duration of their time in the Europa League due to his outings for Borussia Dortmund.

Wenger has been left short up front due to the Gabon international's absence and the fact that Alexandre Lacazette is facing a six-week spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

During his pre-match press conference, Wenger spoke to reporters about Aubameyang's situation, saying: "Unanimously I know all clubs agree now that this rule has to disappear. It doesn't make sense."

The North London outfit will face Ostersunds FK in the first leg of their last-32 clash on Thursday.
